Coca-Cola, the most-recognized brand in the world, is a valued supporter of Project Meet Me Halfway. Our relationship began in the summer of 1989 when Bea Costner altered Jimmy Wayne’s life by giving him a cold Coca-Cola and a donut whenever he mowed her lawn. This was the start of a life-changing experience for Jimmy, and ultimately the creation of Project Meet Me Halfway.
In 2015, the Coca-Cola relationship expanded with a $49,500 goodwill sponsorship, and a holiday campaign in grocery stores across the United States. Approximately 5,000 stores carried a custom-built display featuring Coca-Cola Santa bottles and Jimmy Wayne’s New York Times best-selling autobiography Walk to Beautiful. Coke also communicated the partnership via social media and other marketing elements, and worked with retail partners across the country to do the same.
Through this partnership, Jimmy Wayne and Project Meet Me Halfway were able to reach countless people who wouldn’t otherwise have been exposed to the reality of foster youth who are aging out of the system.
This year will bring a new chapter to this partnership that was started 27 years ago by a loving couple who met a deserving kid halfway. We look forward to sharing this news with you soon, and in the meantime, we hope you will serve as ambassadors by sharing Jimmy’s story and creating awareness for these kids.
